Context. In many other contexts, I would see an open display of knives in a public taxi as rather aggressive. Travelling in the rugged hills of #Mizoram, it is a practical tool that can get you out of many difficult situations. I have seen a SUV (taxi) driver use a knife to cut a branch of a tree to ‘repair’ a broken axle, and use that to limp to the nearest garage. The more I see the world, the less I believe in #design that does not in some way grow from the land it is practiced in. While global influences are important, it is the #indigeneity of design that makes it useful, that responds to the context of the place, the time, the people.
